As the deadline day for the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy definite entries fast approaches all eyes are set on who will be competing. While we wait to see the full list of combinations that will be competing in Valkenswaard at the Longines Tops International Arena, let's take a look at the already confirmed studbooks participating in the inaugural event.
Over ten World Breeding Federation for Sports Horses (WBFSH) studbooks will go head-to-head at the Longines Tops International Arena, from Thursday 28th September to Sunday 1st October. Some of the participating studbooks include the home nation’s own KWPN, Belgium’s BWP & Zangersheide, Denmark’s Danish Warmblood, Selle Francais from France, Germany’s Hanoverian & Oldenburg, the Irish Sport Horse from Ireland, Spain’s ANCADES, as well as the AES from the UK.
This means that an impressive seven of the Top Ten studbooks in the final WBFSH Jumping Rankings in 2022 will be represented at this year’s WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy. The Top Three, BWP, Selle Francais and the KWPN will each field teams. Interesting to note, is that the Belgian Warmblood’s three highest ranked showjumpers in the 2022 WBFSH Jumping Rankings, are all former Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix winners; Henrik von Eckermann’s superstar King Edward (Breeder: Wim Impens), Marlon Zanotelli’s Like A Diamond Van Het Schaeck (Breeder: Perry De Winter) & Malin Baryard-Johnsson’s H&M Indiana (Breeder: W. Vanderlinden-van Turtelboom-Ruys).
With a total prize fund of €170,000, the innovative WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy will see classes for 5 Year Olds, 6 Year Olds, 7 Year Olds, 8 Year Olds and a Sires competition for 8 & 9 Year Old stallions. The event location offers these young horses a unique opportunity to compete in the Longines Tops International Arena, home of Valkenswaard Longines Global Champions Tour. Who knows what future Longines Global Champions Grand Prix winners and competitors will be among these year’s young horse entries.
In addition to providing an educational and promotional opportunity for these talented young horses, the WBFSH Studbooks Jumping Global Champions Trophy creates an event for WBFSH member studbooks to showcase their associations and breeding programmes. It is an opportunity to bring breeding and sport closer together, and to recognise the breeding successes of breeders from around the world. For those looking to invest in exciting prospects for future top sport, the event will also see the first Tops International Auction taking place on Saturday, 30th September.
