Meet the GCL Home Team: Valkenswaard United

Get ready to cheer on Valkenswaard United as the GCL series returns home to the Longines Tops International Arena for the GCL of Valkenswaard. The team will be looking to secure maximum GCL Championship points as they bathe it out in front of their home crowd.

 

A part of the GCL since its inception, the team started off with a bang, winning the first GCL Championship title in 2016. The powerhouse team secured podium finishes in the 2017, 2018, 2020 Championships, taking second place. The team came back to claim victory in 2021, securing their second championship win. Valkenswaard United have had their share of Super Cup successes as well, claiming second in the finals in 2018, 2022, and 2023.

 

The team have had podium finishes in 2018 and 2020 at home at LTIA, taking second place. This year the team have made their mark, taking the win in the GCL of Madrid earlier this season. The team currently sits in fifth place in the GCL Championships with their eye on the top three.

 

This season sees Germany’s Marcus Ehning, Australia’s Edwina Tops-Alexander, Great Britian’s John Whitaker, South Africa’s Oliver Lazarus and young gun from Belgium, Gilles Thomas, return to the team. Germany’s Leonie Böckmann (U25) joins the team following the GCL Mid-Season Transfers, marking her debut in the GCL series.

 

With a stellar line up this year, Valkenswaard United will be looking to claim their first ever victory on home turf. Representing the team in Valkenswaard are Marcus Ehning, Edwina Tops-Alexander, and Oliver Lazarus. The riders will be eager to score maximum points for their team as they go head-to-head with the world’s top talent on their home turf.
